New Alpha Release Tonight!!!
New Alpha Release
Hi everyone! I am so excited to announce the new alpha version of FishyNet and wanted to thank everyone for their support especially my best friend and fellow game developer Jason who has aided me in bug fixing and much more.
Tonight I plan to release the newest version of the game and I wanted to talk about the major differences between Alpha0.01a and Alpha0.2a as well talk about the future of the game and what's next.
Bug Fixes
- Score Counter Bug
So in the last version there was a bug in the code that would cause the saved HighScore to be overwritten by 0. I have it displaying the correct score now so they should not be saved over while playing.
Known Bugs (Yet To Be Fixed)
- Slider Bug (Audio)
The audio slider in the setting menu will display incorrect after a game but it still plays audio at the set volume. This bug still persists but I plan to address it in the future as it is only a visual bug.
What's New?
- Fish Model
I changed the yellow fish model to be one that fits the style a little better and is generally more appealing to look at.
- Fish Animations
I gave the new yellow fish as well and the orange fish a tail flapping animation to make them look a little more dynamic while going down stream
- Net Model
I changed the net model a little so it would have a more bent appearance that I prefer to the rigid one as the new model looks a bit more springy and bouncy.
- Touch Controls
I programmed the touch controls but I have not got to test if they work with the WebGL on phones. They were however working in the unity simulator so fingers crossed there will be no bugs as this is a big step in the games development to a mobile release. Also you can technically play the game with the mouse as the touch controls work for mouse.
The Future
As of right now I plan to continue to work on FishyNet when I can but sadly I will be getting a new job soon and will have even less development time as a result. I may have to scale the game back more then I originally planned so that way it can have a final release. I have honestly had so much fun working on this game and improving my programming skills while doing so. I hope to add more gameplay and some achievements to the game before we call it a final release.
What's Next?
Right now I have started thinking about the future of my career as an indie dev and I decided that I need a magnum opus to work towards. I know what game I really want to make and plan to make games that will build the skills I will need to make that dream game. I will be switching to more 3d focused games in the future but as of right now I do not know what project will come after this and be the stepping stone to my grand game.
